Clovis woman pleads guilty to felon in possession of a firearm.

Clovis, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Quentin Ray, announced that on April 13, 2023, Alexis Edwards, age 22, of Clovis, NM pled guilty to Felon in possession of a firearm.

On July 9, 2022, Officers with the Clovis Police Department were executing a search warrant looking for a firearm on a homicide investigation.  Officer Riddle who was stationed at the back of the house, observed Ms. Edwards pick up an AR-15 style rifle and throw it on top of the roof of the house.  The AR-15 was recovered and a records check of Edwards, revealed she was convicted of a felony offense in Texas.  Based upon her prior felony conviction she was not allowed to handle or possess a firearm and was charged with a 3rd felony of felon in possession of a firearm.

The Honorable Judge Cross presided over the hearing and sentenced Edwards to 3 years in the Department of Corrections.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney, Brett Carter and Edwards was represented by criminal defense attorney, Mitch Mender of Clovis.
