Arzola found guilty at trial for Battery Upon Peace Officer’s

Clovis, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Quentin Ray, announced that Francisco Arzola, age 46, of Clovis, was found guilty on May 2, 2024, by a Curry County jury of Battery Upon a Peace Officer (2 Counts). 

On October 5, 2021, Officers from the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to 209 West for a public affray. While enroute dispatch informed officers that Frank Arzola was at this address making threats toward others and had an active warrant for failure to pay fines out of Municipal Court. Officers made contact with Arzola and told him that they had a warrant for his arrest.  While attempting to arrest Arzola, he became non-compliant and resisted arrest. During the confrontation, Arzola punched one officer in the neck and scratched another officer.

The Honorable Benjamin Cross presided over the case.  Arzola is set to be sentenced later this month. Arzola is also pending charges out of Bailey County Texas. Once he has completed his charges in New Mexico he will be extradited back to face charges in Texas.
