Alexandra Romero facing 1st degree Murder Charge

Portales, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Quentin Ray, announced that on February 8, 2024, Curry County District Court Judge, David Reeb, found there to be sufficient probable cause for the State to proceed on charges of first-degree murder against Alexandra Romero.

The charges stem from August 2023, where Romero shot Jimenez and he succumbed to his injuries. 

Alexandra Romero faces 18 years in prison.  She is currently being held at the Curry County Adult Detention Center pending trial.  She will be arraigned in District Court within the next two weeks with a trial date to be set at some point in the future.

Brian Stover, Deputy District Attorney and Gina Nunez, Assistant District Attorney are prosecuting the case and Matthew Chandler is Romero’s Defense Attorney.
