Mendoza sentenced to 7 years in the Department of Corrections and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his natural life for possessing child pornography.

Clovis, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Quentin Ray, announced that on November 30, Amador Mendoza, age 51, of Portales, was sentenced to 7 years in the Department of Corrections followed by 5 years of supervised probation. 

On April 27, 2022, Deputies with the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mendoza for failing to register as a sex offender. Mendoza was wanted out of Texas for Possession of Child Pornography and failing to register. After a thorough investigation and executing a search warrant of Mendoza’s house and electronics it was discovered that Mendoza was in possession of videos and depictions of child pornography.

The Honorable Judge Donna J. Mowrer presided over the hearing and sentenced Mendoza to 7 years in the Department of Corrections followed by 5 years of supervised probation.  Mendoza is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The case was prosecuted by Quentin Ray, District Attorney and Mendoza was represented by criminal Defense Attorney, Sandy Gallagher of Portales.
