Jonathan Sullivan Sentenced to 4 years.

Clovis, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Quentin Ray, announced that on October 31, 2023, Jonathan Sullivan, age 32, of Clovis, was sentenced to 4 years in the Department of Corrections

On May 29, 2023, Jonathan Sullivan led Curry County Sheriff Deputies on a vehicle pursuit and eventually stopped on Rencher Street and ran from Deputies.  He hid behind a house and as a Curry County Sheriff’s Deputy exited a garage the suspect took an aggressive stance and pointed a pistol at the Deputy.  The Deputy, who believed he was about to be shot pulled his firearm and fired 3 shots at the suspect.  The suspect who was not hit fled and was eventually captured by NMSP in an abandoned vehicle.   The pistol the suspect pointed at the deputy was later located and determined to be an unloaded airsoft pistol.

The Honorable Judge Drew Tatum presided over the hearing and sentenced Jonathan Sullivan to 4 years in the Department of Corrections.  Sullivan will have to serve at least 3 years and 8 months before he can be considered for parole.  The District Attorney’s Office commends the Curry County Sheriff’s Office for over 15 of their deputies showing up at sentencing to support the Deputy involved in this incident.

The case was prosecuted by Brett Carter, Special Prosecutor for the District Attorney and Sullivan was represented by criminal Defense Attorney, Ben Herrmann, of Clovis.
