DARIUS VONSCHRILTZ SENTENCED TO 1 YEAR IN PRISON FOR THE ASHLEY FURNITURE THEFT

Portales, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Quentin Ray, announced that on November 17, 2023, Darius Vonschriltz, age 30, of Portales, was sentenced to one year in the Department of Corrections for his part in the Ashley Home Furniture Store Theft.  Darius Vonschriltz pleaded guilty to Larceny, a third-degree felony, and Receiving Stolen Property a second-degree felony. 

The charges stem from a time between June of 2019 and March of 2020, in which Darius Vonschriltz stole furniture and home décor from the Ashley Furniture Store in Portales, NM where he was employed.  It was determined Darius Vonschriltz had stolen over $100,000 in property from the store.   Approximately $60,000 worth of Ashley furniture was located in the home and storage unit of Darius and Kekoa Vonschriltz (an ENMU police officer at the time).  Kekoa Vonschriltz was sentenced to 5 years of probation in June of 2021 for possessing the stolen property in the couple’s home and storage unit.

The Honorable Jared Kallunki sentenced Darius Vonschriltz today to one year in the Department of Corrections. Darius was taken into custody.

The case was prosecuted by District Attorney, Quentin Ray and Deputy District Attorney, Brian Scott Stover, and Darius was represented by criminal defense attorney, Dan Lindsey.
