Portales, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that on November 19, 2019, Ruben Lozano, age 48, of Portales, NM, was found guilty by a Roosevelt County jury of Trafficking Methamphetamine, (3rd offense), a first degree felony; Possession of Heroin, a fourth degree felony; and Receiving Stolen Property, a fourth degree felony.
On June 6, 2018 the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at the residence of 1600 S Globe, Portales, NM, for an outstanding warrant on Ruben Lozano. Upon the execution of the search warrant the deputies located Ruben Lozano and seized over $6,000.00 of methamphetamine, heroin, drug paraphernalia and a stolen firearm.
The Honorable Donna J. Mowrer presided over the trial and ordered that sentencing be held at a later date. Lozano is facing 21 years in prison on these charges, plus an additional four years on each count as a habitual offender, which would be a total of 33 years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections.
Deputy District Attorney, Quentin Ray prosecuted the case for the State and criminal defense attorney, Chris Christensen, of Portales, represented Lozano.
