Clovis NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that on March 4, 2019, District Judge Drew Tatum sentenced Tanner Autrey, age 25, of Clovis, to 18 years in the Department of Corrections for committing crimiinal sexual penetration and first degree kidnapping.
The Court denied a defense motion for a new trial before hearing from the victim and her family. The victim asked the Court for a harsh sentence because she will suffer a life sentence of dealing with the trauma inflicted by the defendant. The Court also heard statements from the defendant’s family during the two hour sentencing hearing.
The Honorable Drew Tatum ordered that Autrey be taken into immediate custody to be transported to the Department of Corrections. Tatum also found that the offense would be deemed a serious violent offense which ensures that Autrey will serve 85% of his sentence. Once the sentence is served, Autrey will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
The case was prosecuted for the State by Brian Scott Stover, Chief Deputy District Attorney, and Autrey was represented by Deputy Public Defender, Ibukun Adepoju.
