Clovis, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that on Monday, January 28, 2019, Xavier Loving, age 25, of Clovis, was sentenced to 12 years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections, to be followed by 4.5 years of supervised probation.
On December 19, 2018, a Curry County jury found Loving guilty of Shooting at an Occupied Dwelling, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
On August 14th, 2017, Loving shot at his neighbor’s house while a young child was asleep inside. No one was injured. Loving had been convicted of numerous felonies in the past ten years, and was prohibited from carrying a firearm.
The Honorable Fred Van Soelen found that the crimes were serious violent offenses which mean Loving will have to serve 85% of his time before being considered for parole.
