Victor Garcia Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

January 25, 2019

Clovis, NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that on January 23, 2019, Victor Garcia, 37, of Clovis, was sentenced to 10 years in the Department of Corrections (to be followed by one year of probation) for one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance and one count of Tampering with Evidence; both 4th degree felonies.  Garcia had entered a guilty plea to the charges in December of 2018.

Garcia attempted to hide methamphetamine in his pants during a search warrant by the Region V Drug Task Force on June 22, 2017.

The Honorable Matthew Chandler presided over the hearing and found Garcia to be a habitual offender which added four years to each count.

Claire Adams, Assistance District Attorney, prosecuted the case for the State.  The defendant was represented by criminal defense attorney, Sandra Gallagher, of Clovis.
