Clovis, NM ~ Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announces that Wednesday, December 19, 2018, Kaitlyn Arington-Martinez, age 26, of Clovis, NM, was found guilty by a Curry County jury of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), a fourth degree felony and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
The Honorable Matthew Chandler presided over the one-day trial. The jury heard testimony from law enforcement as well as an expert in forensic drug analysis from the New Mexico State Crime Lab. Judge Chandler ruled that Arington-Martinez is a habitual offender enhancing the felony count by 8 years for a total sentence of 10 ½ years in the Department of Corrections with 2 ½ years suspended for supervised probation.
Assistant District Attorneys Elizabeth Jones and Lance Sumrall prosecuted the case for the State. Arington-Martinez was represented by Sandra Gallagher, Attorney at Law.
