Clovis NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that Thursday, November 15, 2018, Gerardo Vasquez, age 43 of Clovis, NM, was found guilty by a Curry County jury of driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor-6th offense, a special third degree felony and driving while license revoked, a misdemeanor.
The Honorable Matthew Chandler presided over the trial and ordered that sentencing be held at a later date pending a diagnostic evaluation to be performed by the New Mexico Department of Corrections. Vasquez faces up to 42 months in prison.
District Attorney Reeb stated, “Our office is committed to making sure these repeat DWI offenders are held accountable for their actions and I hope that the Judge in this case will sentence Vasquez to the maximum prison time allowed by law.”
Assistant District Attorneys Lance Sumrall and Elizabeth Jones prosecuted the case for the State. Vasquez was represented by Assistant Public Defender Kristen Sample.
