Turner Indicted for Murder

May 11, 2018

Clovis NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced Darryl Turner, age 30, of Clovis, was indicted today by a Curry County Grand Jury on charges of Second Degree Murder.

Clovis Police responded to Plains Regional Medical Center on September 5, 2017, for a reported shooting victim.  The victim, David McDonald, died later that morning from the injuries sustained from the gunshot wound to his chest. During the investigation by the Major Crimes Unit, an eyewitness stated she saw the shooting by the Clovis Apartments on Martin Luther King Blvd, and identified Darryl Turner as the shooter.  Turner fled to California, where he was arrested on unrelated charges and then extradited back to New Mexico on the outstanding murder warrant.  Turner is being held without bond in the Curry County Detention Center.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Brian Stover presented the case to the Grand Jury.   The case is pending a trial setting with the Honorable Matthew Chandler.
