Clovis, NM - Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that on May 2, 2018, Yvonne Amado, age 40, of Clovis, was found guilty by a Curry County jury of Theft of Identity and Conspiracy to Commit Fraud, both fourth degree felonies.
Amado was arrested in August of 2016 for allegedly obtaining individuals identities by electronic fraud. Amado obtained credit cards using other individuals stolen identities and also
had packages shipped to her which she in turn shipped overseas to Africa in conspiracy scheme.
The Honorable Fred Van Soelen presided over the one-day trial and allowed Amado to remain free on bond. Sentencing will be scheduled for a later date. Amado faces up to three years in prison.
This case was prosecuted by Kristen Beltran and Mitch Mender of the District Attorney’s Office. Amado was represented by criminal defense attorney Julita Leavell of Albuquerque.
