Jackson Sentenced to 45 years for Kidnapping, Criminal Sexual Penetration

March 9, 2017

Clovis, NM ~  Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that Joshua Quiton Jackson, age 31, of Clovis, NM, was sentenced today before the Honorable Drew D. Tatum.  On February 7, 2017, a Curry County jury found Jackson guilty of two counts of Criminal Sexual Penetration, three counts of Aggravated Battery on a Household Member and Criminal Sexual Contact.

The charges stem from a domestic violence incident in April of 2015.  The victim testified at trial as to the violence and trauma she suffered at the hands of Jackson.

Today, District Attorney Andrea Reeb recounted for the Court, Jackson’s long history of domestic violence.    Jackson is already serving an 18 year sentence for crimes against the same victim.  Chief Deputy District Attorney, Brian Stover, asked the Court to remember Jackson’s disrespectful conduct at trial, where he smirked and showed no remorse.

Judge Tatum ordered that Jackson register as a lifetime sex offender and sentenced him to the maximum time of 45 years in prison which will run consecutively to the previous 18 year sentence.  Judge Tatum stated to Jackson, “You have a long history of violence with women, you have shown no regret, no remorse and you are a menace to this community and to women.  Your acts can only be described as cowardly, inhuman and despicable and I think you have very little rehabilitation potential.”

Chief Deputy District Attorney Brian Stover prosecuted the case for the State of New Mexico, and criminal defense attorney Jonathan Miller of Albuquerque, represented the defendant.
