Roberts Found Guilty in Domestic Violence Case

February 16, 2017

Clovis NM – Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that yesterday a Curry County jury found Jeremy Roberts, age 38, of Clovis, guilty of False Imprisonment a fourth degree felony, and Battery on  a Household Member, a misdemeanor.

The charges stem from an incident in May of 2015, when Clovis Police were called by the victim. She stated that she and Roberts had an argument and he struck her in the face and blocked the door and wouldn’t allow her to leave.  The victim wasn’t able to call police until two days later when Roberts had left the home.

The jury deliberated less than one hour before returning their verdicts.  The Honorable Fred Van Soelen presided over the trial and deferred sentencing to a later date.  Roberts faces up to 2 and ½ years in prison.  His sentence could be enhanced because of a prior felony conviction.

Assistant District Attorney, Rebecca Ralph, is the prosecuting attorney for the State of New Mexico. Chris Christensen, Assistant Public Defender, represented Roberts.
