Eusebio Jasper Receives Maximum Sentence of 33 Years
Clovis, NM ~ Today, Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that Eusebio Jasper, age 64, of Clovis, NM, was sentenced to the maximum 33 years in prison by the Honorable Stephen K. Quinn. Jasper was convicted by a jury in January of 2015 of First and Second Degree Criminal Sexual Penetration of a Minor.
Jasper began sexually abusing the victim when she was 12 years of age, resulting in the child giving birth to a baby at the age of 13. The delays in the case were caused by Jasper changing attorneys several times and requesting a second DNA paternity test. Both paternity tests showed Jasper to be the father of the child.
Brian Stover, Chief Deputy District Attorney, asked the Court to sentence Jasper to the maximum 33 years in prison as the defendant showed no acceptance of guilt and a lack of remorse for his actions.
The Honorable Stephen Quinn stated, “The victim testified that she saw the defendant as a grandfather- like figure. Her family entrusted her care to the defendant. She had no choice but to comply with what Jasper told her to do. This betrayal of trust deserves the maximum sentence.”
District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, stated “I am very satisfied with the work of the Clovis Police Department along with Brian Stover in the prosecution of this individual. The Defendant will spend the rest of his life in prison and that is a great result for the victim in this case and will additionally protect the citizens of our community.”
Criminal Defense Attorney, Jonathan C. Miller, of Albuquerque, represented the defendant.
