Drug Trafficker Convicted in Clovis
Clovis, NM - Ninth Judicial District Attorney Andrea Reeb announced that Kelly Jaramillo, age 48, of Clovis, was found guilty by a Curry County jury yesterday evening of Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamines; and Attempt to Traffic Methamphetamines, both third degree felonies. Jaramillo was accused of attempting to buy over two pounds of methamphetamine from an undercover informant during a Region V Drug Task Force operation in February of 2012.
The case suffered many delays since 2012, including a trial held in October of 2014 that was declared a mistrial.
The Honorable Drew D. Tatum presided over the one-day trial and Assistant District Attorneys Laura Talbert and Jake Boazman prosecuted the case for the State of New Mexico. Criminal defense attorney Cori Harbour-Valdez represented the defendant.
Judge Tatum ordered sentencing be held at a later date. Jaramillo is facing up to 6 years in prison.
