Clovis Man Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison
Clovis, NM ~ Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that Joshua Elias Mondragon, age 30, of Clovis, NM, pled guilty on July 8, 2015, to Aggravated Burglary, a second degree felony.
In March of 2014, police were dispatched to a scene of a burglary. They found the victim at his parent’s home with numerous cuts and bruises to his head, hands and feet. The victim reported that two men broke into his home and attacked him with a pool stick, brass knuckles and a broken broom handle. The men then stole the victim’s truck, television and cell phone. The stolen truck and Mondragon were located by police the next day. The other assailant in the case was also arrested and is pending trial.
The Honorable Drew D. Tatum presided over plea hearing and sentenced Mondragon to eight years in the Department of Corrections. Tatum also found that Mondragon is a habitual offender which enhanced the sentence by one year.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Zachary Bidner. Brett J. Carter, criminal defense attorney, represented the defendant.
