District Attorney’s Office Employees Recognized by the State of New Mexico For Excellence in their Profession
The New Mexico District Attorney’s Association recently announced that two prosecutors and an investigator from the Ninth Judicial District were recognized for outstanding excellence in their profession.
The awards were presented last week at the New Mexico District Attorney’s annual training conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Brian Stover was awarded “Prosecutor of the Year” for the State of New Mexico. Brian Stover has been a prosecutor for over 16 years and handles many of the high profile, felony cases in the Ninth Judicial District. Despite Mr. Stover’s heavy caseload, he also participates in many community activities and has a profound commitment to serving the public.
Assistant District Attorney Laura Talbert was awarded “Junior Prosecutor of the Year” for the State of New Mexico. Laura Talbert has been a prosecutor for only two years and has taken some of Clovis’ biggest drug dealers to trial resulting in 18 – 30 year sentences. Laura is active in the community, serving as a board member for The Hartley House as well as volunteering her time to many other worthy causes.
Senior Investigator Dan Aguilar was awarded “Investigator of the Year” for the State of New Mexico. Dan Aguilar was instrumental in the investigation and apprehension of child killer, Noe Torres. For over 10 years, Dan worked tirelessly to bring justice for 10 year old Carlos Perez, who was shot and killed while he lay sleeping in his bed.
New Mexico District Attorneys’ employ hundreds of prosecutors and investigators statewide, all of whom were eligible to receive one of these awards. Since 2004, over 13 employees from the Ninth Judicial District Attorney’s Office have been awarded by the State of New Mexico for their outstanding dedication and excellence in their profession.
